How Amazon fees work
Amazon charges a referral fee that is 15% in most categories (8% on items $10 or less in some categories), plus a selling-plan cost of $0.99 per item on the Individual plan or a flat $39.99/month on the Professional plan. FBA fulfillment fees are extra if you use FBA.
- Referral fee: typically 15% of the total sale price; it ranges from about 6% to 45% depending on the category.
- Selling plan: Individual sellers pay $0.99 per item sold; Professional sellers pay $39.99/month with no per-item fee.
- FBA fees: if you use Fulfillment by Amazon, separate pick-pack and storage fees apply on top.
- Shipping: for self-fulfilled (FBM) orders, you cover the label, which reduces your net.

Price every Amazon flip for profit
Knowing the fees is only half the math. To actually profit, price from real sold comps, subtract these fees and your shipping, and hold a minimum margin. Our profit margin guide walks through it, and the what-is-it-worth guide shows how to find an item’s real value before you buy. Cluzy does both in one scan: it pulls live sold prices and nets out fees so you know your profit on Amazon in seconds.
Amazon fees FAQ
How much does Amazon take per sale?
For most categories Amazon takes a 15% referral fee plus $0.99 per item on the Individual plan. On a $50 sale that is about $8.49, leaving roughly $41.51 before your product cost, shipping, or FBA fees.
What is the difference between the Individual and Professional plan?
Individual sellers pay $0.99 per item sold with no monthly fee, which suits low volume. Professional sellers pay $39.99/month with no per-item fee, which is cheaper once you sell more than about 40 items a month.
Does this include Amazon FBA fees?
No. This calculator covers the referral fee and selling-plan cost. Fulfillment by Amazon adds separate pick-pack and storage fees based on item size and weight, so add those if you use FBA.
