First use downloads the AI model (~40 MB) into your browser and keeps it cached — after that it’s fast, works offline, and your photos never leave your device.
The photo never leaves your device
Every well-known background removal site works the same way: your photo uploads to their servers, their GPU processes it, and the free tier hands back a small, watermarked preview to upsell you. This tool inverts that. An open-source neural network (imgly’s background-removal model) downloads into your browser once, cached like any other asset, and every cutout after that is computed locally in WebAssembly. That one architectural choice is why there is no upload, no watermark, no resolution cap, and no usage limit — there is simply no server in the loop to pay for.
White backgrounds sell
Marketplace search results are a grid of thumbnails, and the listings that pop are the ones where the item fills the frame against a clean background. eBay’s own photo guidance pushes plain backdrops, and a crisp white covershot is the closest thing reselling has to a cheat code. Shoot anywhere — the bed, the floor, the thrift cart — then let the AI do what a photo tent would have: the Download JPG (white) button gives you the catalog look at full resolution. Pair it with the image resizer’s marketplace presets and your listing photos are done.

Background removal FAQ
Is it really free? What's the catch — watermark, resolution cap, daily limit?
None of the three. Full original resolution, no watermark, no account, no counter. The economics work because the AI runs on YOUR device — we have no server bill per image, so we have nothing to meter.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. This is the honest version of a background remover: the neural network downloads into your browser once and runs there. Most "free" background removal sites upload your photo to their servers and keep rights to analyze it — read their terms sometime.
Why does the first photo take longer?
First use downloads the AI model (~40 MB) into your browser's cache — a progress bar shows it. Every photo after that skips straight to processing, typically a few seconds on a modern laptop or phone, and it keeps working offline.
How do I get the white background eBay wants?
One click — the "Download JPG (white)" button composites your cutout onto pure white at full resolution. eBay's own guidance favors clean, plain backgrounds, and white covershots consistently look sharpest in search grids on every marketplace.
How does it handle hair, fur, and fuzzy edges?
Well for a fully automatic tool — the model was built for product and portrait cutouts. Very wispy hair or a mohair sweater against a busy background is the hard case for every remover; shooting against a plain, contrasting wall gives it the best shot.
What resolution does the result keep?
Your original resolution. The AI computes the cutout mask internally at model size, then applies it to the full-size photo — a 4000-pixel photo comes back at 4000 pixels.
Can I remove backgrounds from many photos at once?
One at a time for now — each run uses your device's full attention. Drop the next photo the moment the last one finishes; with the model cached the cycle is only a few seconds.
Which browsers work?
Any current Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox on desktop or mobile — the model runs on WebAssembly. Older phones will be slower but get the same result.
