Every well-known background removal site works the same way: your photo uploads to their servers, their GPU processes it, and the free tier hands back a small, watermarked preview to upsell you. This tool inverts that. An open-source neural network (imgly’s background-removal model) downloads into your browser once, cached like any other asset, and every cutout after that is computed locally in WebAssembly. That one architectural choice is why there is no upload, no watermark, no resolution cap, and no usage limit — there is simply no server in the loop to pay for.

Marketplace search results are a grid of thumbnails, and the listings that pop are the ones where the item fills the frame against a clean background. eBay’s own photo guidance pushes plain backdrops, and a crisp white covershot is the closest thing reselling has to a cheat code.
